The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium is set to host its first Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game, in which Sunrisers Hyderabad will square off against Mumbai Indians. Both teams have had a forgettable start to their respective campaigns this season. The Orange Army lost their first encounter to Kolkata Knight Riders by four runs and came close to recording the fourth-highest successful run chase in IPL history. On the other hand, MI were thumped by Gujarat Titans by 6 runs in Ahmedabad.
After losing their previous encounters by the barest of margins, they will look to have something on the points column when they lock horns on Wednesday night in Hyderabad.

SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 66/1 in 5.1 Overs: Gerald Coetzee punished for no ball as the resulting free-hit has been pulled over fine leg by Abhishek Sharma for a maximum.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024 SRH 59/1 in 5 Overs: Geral Coetzee loses control of the first delivery as he delivers a high full toss which is also quite wide off new batter Abhishek Sharma. Umpire gives it as no ball but Hardik Pandya reviews hoping it will be overturned for wide. The decision is upheld. Ball is clearly above the batter’s waist. MI lose a review.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 58/1 in 5 Overs: Wicket? Doesn’t matter to Travis Head. He’s unfazed as he hits Hardik Pandya for a hat-trick of fours – the first a short ball guided over short third man, the next towards point and the third punched through covers. 13 runs from Pandya’s over.  Head moves to 44 off 16.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 45/1 in 4.1 Overs: OUT! Hardik Pandya gets a wicket. Some relief for Tim David now since he’s the one who takes this catch of Mayank Agarwal after earlier giving a life to Travis Head who punished MI with a flurry of boundaries. A short ball that surprised Agarwal and he ends up playing a pull shot to gift David a sitter at mid-on.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 45/0 in 4 Overs: Given what transpired in the first three overs, MI captain Hardik Pandya turns to Jasprit Bumrah who settles things down for his team with a good over, allowing just five runs in it.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 40/0 in 3 Overs: Wow! Travis Head taken Kwena Maphaka to the cleaners! He started with two consecutive sixes before finishing the over with back-to-back fours – the first driven straight past the bowler and the second guided over the short third fielder. Head moves to 31 off 10. 22 runs in the over.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 26/0 in 2.3 Overs: SIX! Travis Head giving the young debutant Kwena Maphaka!. He has launched two back to back sixes off the 17-year-old. The first one deposited over long-on and the second launched into the Hyderabad night sky with the ball landing over midwicket boundary.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 18/0 in 2 Overs: Hardik Pandya concedes 11 runs in his first over of the match. He could have taken a wicket off his very first delivery had Tim David at mid-of not misjudged what should have been a regulation catch of Travis Head.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 16/0 in 1.3 overs: FOUR! Now Mayank Agarwal gets going. Frustration for MI captain Hardik Pandya. A catch was dropped off his first delivery that resulted in a four. And then Agarwal pulled a short one to mid-wicket for a four of his own.
DROPPED! Oh dear Tim David has dropped the catch of Travis Head off the first delivery of MI captain Hardik Pandya! Head continues his aggressive approach and goes for an airy drive but David at mid-off goes for a reverse cup and allows the ball to burst through. Worse, it runs away for a four.
SRH vs MI Live Score IPL 2024, SRH 7/0 in 0.4 Overs: Kwena Maphaka  drops one one the length and Travis Head greets him with a firm drive through covers to open his account in IPL 2024 with a four.
Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head are out in the middle. And Mumbai Indians have thrown the ball to young debutant Kwena Maphaka. Hardik Pandya is having a long chat with the South African. Here we go!
Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (captain), Tim David, Gerald Coetzee, Shams Mulani, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Kwena Maphaka
Travis Head, Mayank Agarwal, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen (wicketkeeper), Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (captain), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Jaydev Unadkat

This looks like a good wicket. Not too upset (at batting first). It’s a tough tournament, the crowd and conditions will help.

Looks like a good track, we were solid in the last game. Didn’t plan properly, that cost us the game. 13 games to go, we need to keep doing the right things. We are positive and looking forward to the challenge.

Mumbai Indians have made one change to their playing XI from the last game. Luke Wood misses out and young fast bowler Kwena Maphaka will make his IPL debut tonight.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have made a couple of changes too. Travis Head has been given a game in place of Marco Jansen. And T Natarajan has a niggle and been replaced by Jaydev Unadkat.
Right then toss time! It’s Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya who calls it correctly and decides hit team will be bowling first against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Here’s a result of the past five matches between the two teams
Mumbai Indians faced Gujarat Titans in their first match of IPL 2024 in Ahmedabad. It was the first match between the two teams since Hardik Pandya left GT to rejoin MI ahead of the players’ auction last year. GT batted first and were kept to 168/6 with Jasprit Bumrah producing a superb spell that saw him pick three wickets for just 14 runs. In reply, MI lost a couple of wickets early before Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis put the chase on track. However, MI were scratchy in slog overs and fell short of the target by 7 runs.
