Honda’s all-new made-in-India Elevate has finally launched in the international market (Japan). As per the details shared by the brand via official release, the SUV has been introduced under the nameplate WR-V, allowing the customers to have a wider choice in the segment.
It has been informed that this is the first time a model has been exported from India to Japan, highlighting the country’s capabilities of growing manufacturing prowess on a global level. It has been claimed by Honda that ever since the model debuted in Japan, it received an overwhelming response from customers, giving all the credit to its aggressive stylement and bold stance.
In terms of looks, nothing has been changed. It features the same road appearance, an aggressive piano black grill at the front with a chromo finish company’s logo. The SUV flaunts the same LED headlight setup, paired with sleek LED Day Running Lights (DRLs). Talking about the size, it is 4312mm in length, 1650mm in height, 1790mm in width, and has a decent wheelbase of 2650mm.
Under the hood, the newly launched WR-V is powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine, generating a max power of 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm of torque. The unit is paired with a either 6-speed Manual or a 7-speed (CVT) transmission.
Speaking about the decision to export Elevate directly from India to Japan, the company’s CEO and President Takuya Tsumura, said, “Launch of the ‘Made-in-India’ Elevate as WR-V in Japan is a proud moment for all of us. This reaffirms our manufacturing potential and the growing importance of Honda Cars India in Honda’s global business strategies.”
In addition, he said, “The All-New Honda Elevate has been very well appreciated in the Indian market becoming our key pillar of business. We are confident that we will be able to replicate this success and satisfy our global customers with best quality and craftsmanship.”
