Two minors among three died in a road accident on the Delhi Meerut Expressway on Saturday, police said. Eleven students from Amroha district were on their way to Jamia Millia Islamia University to appear in an entrance exam for admission in class 6 when their car rammed into a stationary truck on the expressway and another truck hit the vehicle from behind, they said.
On receiving information about the accident near Neelam Dharamkante, police from Crossing Republic police station reached the spot and the injured were evacuated and admitted to the hospital.
The Ertiga car driver Anas (24) and two students — Unesh (12) and Azam (13) — died in the accident that happened at 6: 45 am, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ziauddin Ahmed said to the news agency, PTI. The driver of the two trucks fled from the spot, however, the driver of the stationary truck, Saddam was later arrested.
Saddam informed the cops that due to a snag he had stopped the truck. Police with the help of automobile engineers will carry out an inspection of the truck and find out if it had developed some issues, reported Times of India. The driver added that before he could check the snag, the car hit from behind.

The horrific accident was caught on CCTV showing vehicles zooming through the multilane highway when the car collided with the truck and spun a couple of times. Then suddenly, the car hit another truck which then turned over.
The injured children, all between 10 and 12 age group are being treated, while the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police said. The father of one of students informed the police that the driver along with the children left late on Friday night at around 3 pm. The exam was scheduled from 9 am on Saturday. Police suspect that the driver might have dozed off.
