The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha Polls as well as assembly elections for some states on March 16.

According to reports, the Lok Sabha Elections are likely to be held in seven phases. The poll body will also announce dates for assembly elections in Odisha, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, TMC MPs Arjun Singh and Dibyendu Adhikari joined the BJP on Friday in Delhi. Dibyendu Adhikari is the brother of West Bengal LoP Suvendu Adhikari.
“Today is a special day for me because I am joining the family of BJP. I am inspired by the leadership of PM Modi. I thank Nadd ji and Amit Shah ji,” Dibyendu Adhikari, who joined the BJP earlier in the day, said.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a road show in Telangana’s Malkajgiri. He was joined by state BJP chief and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha Polls as well as assembly elections for some states on Saturday (March 16) at 3 pm. The announcement will be streamed live on social media platforms of the ECI.
The Supreme Court on Friday, yet again, dismissed two pleas related to the use of EVMs – one regarding 19 lakh missing machines and another about glitches in its functioning.
“The faith of the courts is adding immense value and strength to the evolving jurisprudence in favour of EVMs in India. The latest decisions of the Supreme Court further add to the robust and growing catena of orders of the apex and high courts, which have examined various EVM matters and adjudicated in favour of the Election Commission of India (ECI),” an official told News18.
“We will win 13 seats in Assam this time…PM Modi will become the Prime Minister for the consecutive third time. This election is the election between Modi and Rahul Gandhi,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.

BJP leader Amit Malviya on Friday cited results of News18 Mega Opinion poll which showed BJP winning 25 of 42 seats in West Bengal. “Its Modi wave in Bengal,” the B JP leader said in an X post.
“News18 Opinion Poll projects BJP to win 25 Lok Sabha seats and emerge as the single largest party in West Bengal. This when elections have not even been announced and BJP is still to name candidates on more than 50% of the seats,” Malviya said.
Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah on Friday said Lok Sabha candidate for Lakhimpur will be declared within 48 hours.
“Out of the 14 constituencies, we have declared 13. (Candidate for) Lakhimpur will be declared within 48 hours. So, we are fully prepared and we are ready to fight elections and we want the date of election as soon as possible,” he said.
Assam Congress Leader Abdul Khaleque on Friday resigned from the party saying he had “a specific complaint against the PCC president and AICC general secretary in charge”.
“It is true that I have tendered my resignation from the party but the top leadership of the party is in touch with me. I have a specific complaint against the PCC president and AICC general secretary in charge. My resignation is in the public domain, hence at this time, I don’t want to say more…” he said.

Speaking on declaration of candidate from Raver constituency, NCP-SCP leader Rohini Eknathrao Khadse on Friday said, “We have a lot of candidates for Raver constituency. The willing candidates have met Sharad Pawar just now…If Raksha Khadse has been made a candidate by them, she is their candidate…When the candidature is announced, you will find out whether it is Khadse Vs Khadse and what is going to happen…”

“I will contest (Lok Sabha election) from Hajipur. All of our sitting MPs will contest from their respective constituencies. This is our party’s decision,” he said.
The announcement comes after LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Wednesday said his party has finalised a seat-sharing formula with the BJP for the Lok Sabha polls and that all his “concerns” were addressed.

“In the last ten years, PM Modi has made a lot of efforts to bring improvement in railways. Hence, railways are working at a good speed. In Congress’ times, 4 km of railway tracks were laid per day, now it’s 15 km per day. 5,100 km of railway track has been laid in this year only which is equivalent to Switzerland’s entire rail network… Railways will continue to bring new infrastructure and services at the same pace in the upcoming five years…” Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Friday.
